There are fewer things more exciting for a lifestyle photographer to hear than the words, ” we just want our family photographed doing the things we love.” And in the truest sense of those words, it was so much fun to capture them for an afternoon at home. In bed, in jammies. Singing songs, reading favorite books, listening to music, celebrating 1 year as a family of 3, and finally experiencing the quietly falling snow.
A family that plays together…this was such a dominant part of this little boy’s life. It was a joy to be a fly on the wall and watch it. And as I was culling the images, I saw so many things that really spoke to me – the glances from Mom to Dad, the way Mom absentmindly kissed her not-so-baby boy, the caress of her hand on his hair, Dad’s joy at sharing his love of music with his son….so many captured moments made possible because this family was more focused on being with their son and less on the fact that I was there documenting it.
