Elise contact me some time ago wanting to do a beauty session. She opened the conversation with the words, “I wish I would have found you years ago. I’ve been wanting to do something like this, and now that I’m getting older, it is time to scratch this off of my bucket list.”
‘Most’ women might not have a photo shoot that is all about them on their bucket list. But it should be.
Elise’s reasons are so valid, and I hear them all the time… Before I get too much older, I want to do something that makes me feel special. I want to leave one good picture of myself that isn’t my wedding portrait for my kids. I want at least one picture of me that is good.
In every photo session that I take, I always try to get Mom in the picture. At least one. And I always say the pictures that our kids will treasure aren’t the ones of just them, looking up at me and smiling…it is the one of you. Most of us felt beautiful on our wedding day, we display those pictures, they are in a prized album somewhere safe, so that our children might have them when we are gone. But what about what you looked like 15 years later? 20 years later? Are you less beautiful? Absolutely not.
Get pampered with your hair and make-up done. Bring the outfits that you love, and I will take a photo of you that will make your heart sing. And you’ll share it with pride – because you are worth it and you are beautiful.
