Sometimes the perfect portrait to me is what you don’t see. I find I am most drawn to the ones of my kids that have the story behind them…just by seeing the image I can feel the determination they felt, their fears, sorrow, joy. And I prefer it that way. Don’t get me wrong, a killer smile picture with everyone looking at the camera is beautiful as well. But there is something about the back story, the why, that is missing from a posed and staged picture that gets my heart every time.
