It goes without saying that you should enjoy a photographer’s particular style when you hire them. Updating your family photos and taking regular pictures of your children is important…not just for you, but for them.
I think it is pre-programmed in children to love looking at pictures. I know I did as a child, and I can see the trend continue with my own children. My daughter adores looking at all of the photo albums, and even my 5 year old can remember bits and pieces of things…his memory jogged by the photo. The pictures are also a way to keep connected with family who live farther away than we would like. These images…they are a way to keep family, your children, with you. These tangible memories are a pick-me-up when I’m down. They are a conversation starter. They bring comfort and joy.
But that is only half the story. What about the mom or dad who is never in the pictures? Get in the pictures with your kids. Let me come to where you are most comfortable and capture this time. This is why it is important to connect with someone you trust, connect as a family, and let a photographer film who you are.
