Welcoming Home Baby, Princeton NJ Newborn Photographer

The first few weeks of bringing a new baby home is filled with so many special emotions.  It is such a celebration, a miracle, and such a unique experience bonding with your baby.  There is nothing like a new baby, and I won’t lie, I get my baby fix each and every time.  I will happily take that child right off you and snuggle!  As a photographer, it is also one of my favorite things to document.   I use no props, but rather I prefer to document your little one as they are – tiny, new and perfect.  The new family is part of the session and I shoot using natural light at your home.  This way, every session is unique because everything in it is yours.

Sometimes the new parents will try to convince me that they don’t want to be in the pictures.  Sometimes the recovery is a bit hard for mom, or there has been very little sleep, or they simply just don’t feel their best.  All of these reasons are perfectly valid, and one of the reasons why shooting a newborn in a lifestyle documentary way is wonderful, because that baby can be anywhere from 1 week to 1 month old and the images will still be precious.  That connection, the bond, the eye contact, the love…all of that is still present and overflowing, and ready for the camera.   This new family wanted to be a part of it all, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

But for those on the fence, I have been there.  As a mom of two, I know I didn’t look so hot a week after giving birth.  There are ways to photograph your family so that all you see is the connection and love, and not focus on body that has worked so hard to carry your precious cargo for 9 months.  Believe me, your children will thank you.  Having you present, loving on them in those early days, is equally as important as a first birthday image with the cake.  Both are integral parts of their story.  I just think how sad I would be if I didn’t have images like this to give my own kids…

This new family was an absolute dream to shoot.  The little miss did not sleep much, she was alert and ready to take on the world!  And the love between these parents, I felt such joy and peace being in their home.  I’m so thrilled to share with you a sneak peek of my most recent in home newborn session.
