When it comes to photographers, we are not all created equal. Some like to very stylized shoots, love to shoot at sunset only, use flash or other supplemental lighting, or stick to one genre. There is nothing right or wrong about any of these things. Lots of photographers shoot only what makes them happy and use what delivers their vision, and I’m not exception. My vision just happens to be hanging out and acting silly with families, and using natural light most of the time so that I can keep up with all the little ones and roll with whatever my little clients throw at me.
My style of photography is fun. It is fresh. I will always do the traditional family and child portraits, but then I really let the children dictate what happens next. We’ll play games, sing silly songs, whatever it takes to get their participation. Because that always leads to the best smiles, and most genuine portraits.
