A bar or bat mitzvah is a significant milestone in the life of a Jewish child as it marks the transition from childhood to adulthood in the eyes of the Jewish community. It is typically celebrated at 13 years old.
When two or more of the same family are making their bar/bat mitzvah, it is known as a B’nai Mitzvah. During the B’nai Mitzvah service, the twins will be called up to the bimah to recite blessings, read from the Torah, and give a d’var Torah (a speech about the Torah portion) in front of the congregation. The service is a public declaration of their commitment to Judaism, and they will be taking on new responsibilities as members of the Jewish community.
These two are cousins, and have been close their entire lives they might as well be twins! I have photographed each family before, and I was so happy to be asked back for their mitzvah celebration.
We started with temple portraits at Temple B’nai Or in Morristown. Take a look these two! I love {N’s} dress also.
On to the party!
The Ryland Inn is a historic estate located in Whitehouse Station, NJ that offers a picturesque setting for events such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, and other special occasions.
For the B’nai Mitzvah celebration, the venue was decorated with an abundance of colorful flowers, lush greenery, and other garden-inspired elements. A bold color palette added to the amazing ambience of the party along with neon touches. Amazing decor provided by Eggsotic Events, you can find them on Instagram at @eggsoticevents or their site at www.eggsoticevents.
The guests were welcomed into the venue with a beautifully decorated garden entrance that featured a neon sign archway decorated with vines and flowers.
I met the families at their cocktail hour space on the site, the Coach House, where we took extended family portraits. The guests were invited to enjoy a cocktail hour where they were served refreshing drinks and delicious appetizers. A mentalist and a henna artist were on hand for the kids.
The reception was held inside the Ryland Inn’s grand ballroom, which was transformed into a stunning garden-inspired setting. The ballroom was decorated with floral centerpieces, hanging garlands, and twinkling lights to create a magical garden atmosphere. The tables were set with bold-colored linens and elegant tableware.
The food served during the reception was also inspired by the garden theme, with fresh, seasonal ingredients and creative presentation. The dessert table featured a variety of sweet treats, including an ice cream bar and a candy bar.
