Irina and I met because her boyfriend works right next to the girl who cuts my little boy’s hair. Random, I know. He was looking to get her something fun and different for her birthday. I was very excited to be her ‘present.’ The conversation went a little something like this…
Hairstylist, while trying to buzz son’s hair: Hey Jen, you do photography, right?
Me: Yes! Want to chat about a family session?
Hairstylist: Actually Greg was trying to come up with a fun idea for Irina’s birthday. And I thought it might be fun to get her glammed up, take some photos and then take her for a night out. Greg walks over.
Me: OMG, Greg…I’m dying! What an awesome idea! Greg starts to squirm a bit here. What do you think?
Greg: I like it, but I’m not sure if she would go for it. She’s shy until you get to know her and I think she would feel weird.
Me: I completely understand where you are coming from. I can tell you that everyone is a bit nervous about it at first, and kind of thinks, “what am I doing??”. ok, Greg starts to relax here. But we always chat beforehand so she knows me. We chat, we laugh and I get a sense of how she would like to be photographed. What she would like to wear, what makes her feel good…Greg actually starts to crack a smile She goes and gets her hair and make-up done and then we have a good time! When we are finished, you get to take that gorgeous girl out to dinner and I promise you…she is feeling great about herself.
AND….that is exactly what happened. Irina didn’t want boudoir, she wanted an understated sexiness with a glammed up finale. She borrowed a friend’s dress that was 3 sizes too big, we pinned and clipped her in it, and she had a great time.

Greg is on cloud nine. This idea kept him out of the doghouse…for a little while♥
