Welcome to the March letter. This is a special blog post for the 365. I was so excited to be asked by another photographer to take part in a blog circle that takes one post a month and dedicates it to one of our children in a letter, with images. If you missed my first post to {E}, you can check it out here. Follow along the circle to the next letter with the link at the end of the post.
To my monkey man, A:
The second letter goes to you, my little boy. How is this possible that you are so close to 2? You were just born! I remember you still in my tummy, flipping and hiccupping all night long. At a time when your sister ruled our world, you came barreling in and have not looked back. Your personality is bigger than you are, and you make your opinions known to everyone even though you can’t talk it out yet. Oh you say things…mama, outside, dog, door, dada, night night, a ball, what’s that…and you drag me all around to help you or show you things. But I can’t wait to hear what will come out of your mouth when you start finding those words. And even though you said Dada first, I won’t hold that against you 🙂
But do you think you can tone down the climbing? No? Okay, just thought I would try.
I looked up from cooking dinner last night, and you had pushed the ottoman over to our little sideboard table, climbed up onto it, and was looking over the kitchen ledge at me. I think this seriously took you 1 minute from start to finish. While I was busy chopping an onion. Yes, you are your Daddy’s son.
We just started a Mommy and Me class a few weeks ago. You love it. The other kids stay close to their mommys, but not you. You dive head first into the ball pit, or try to rearrange all the toys in the cubbies. Art projects are boring to you right now, though you did like the dotter paints because it was kind of like hammering on paper. Many of your friends didn’t know what to make of them, so you showed them the way. Circle time is a work in progress. You give me about 5 minutes of stillness, and then you are off again.
But if you are in pain, you want me. If you aren’t feeling good, you come to me, arms out and ready. You give great hugs. And even though you try to eat my face, I love your kisses.
I just love you, plain and simple.
Thanks for always keeping me on my toes,
Mommy
