Everyone loves a good candid photo. Everyone. Well, unless they are making a funny or awkward face, but assuming that it’s a nice capture – we all love candid photos! But these are usually easier said than done…mainly because no matter how many times I can tell my families to just relax and have fun – they still know the camera is there!
When I first started photographing families, I would say things like “pretend I’m not here.” But that rarely worked to get the types of pictures that my clients wanted.
I don’t ever rush my sessions, and I’m always at the ready to try a bunch of things to find what just ‘clicks’ with kids. I come prepared, and then I let the family dictate how I’ll interact.
This family had never really done a professional session before. The boys were a bit nervous at first, but I’m so happy to say that by the end of our session – we were all friends 🙂
